Been getting a fair few plugs for my sites just recently, notably a mention on Surfstation for this very blog and featured entries in the directory of insprational websites, siteInspire, for my portfolio site and a recent project, Oxford Ceramics.

Thanks you guys, it means a lot. :)

It looks just like the old website some of you will say, but the modifications to my portfolio site, Iain Claridge Studio, are mostly under the bonnet.
I was perfectly happy with the layout and structure of my old site but it was a bugger to update so I have rebuilt it onto a Wordpress based CMS which will enable me to easily keep the new site updated with new work, in addition to adding potential for some additional functionality, that I haven’t fully exploited yet.
The paint is still wet and it’s not been fully tested in Internet Explorer yet so apologies for any bugs you may come across - it sure would be a help if you could let me know of any that you discover. ;)
Kudos is due to Rick Hurst of Olivewood for his help in taming the Wordpress beast.

After 5 days in the wilderness my domain is restored and my sites are back up. Anything happened whilst I have been gone..?!
Musn’t get too excited though - site will go down again soon for a period of up to 36 hours whilst it is moved to a beefier hosting set-up.
UPDATE: Things would appear to be back to normal and hopefully, thanks to a more solid hosting set-up, there will be no more dramas!
It’s good to be back.

This site will be offline for an estimated 24 hours this coming weekend, commencing July 4th, whilst I upgrade my hosting arrangements to cope with increased traffic demands. During this time you can follow my updates on Twitter.
In the words of Apollo 8 astronaut, Jim Lovell, “See you on the other side”.

Just added a neat little Hab.la chat box application to my blog - its that little black strip you can see hugging the bottom right of your browser.
I had to tweak the styling a little to make it fit the look of the site but otherwise it was a piece of cake to install just by pasting a bit of code into my site template and configuring my IM client.
It’s compatible with a number of IM applications including Adium which is my IM client of choice.
So anytime you feel like it, just click the box and say “hi”..!
In addition to my work as Senior Designer and Head of User Experience at premier Plone consultancy, Netsight, I also offer cost effective web and user interface design services on a consultancy basis to small companies through my freelance design practice Iain Claridge Studio.
Oh the irony…! I have been so busy lately keeping my lovely clients happy with new work that I have had no time to keep the portfolio area of my studio site updated and it’s looking a little tired and unloved. But fear not - a new portfolio section with fresh work and improved functionality is in the pipe-line so watch this space for updates.
