I have to agree with Michael Surtees when he describes these shoes from Gucci as footwear in architectural form.

A comprehensive online reference work here on visual communication through the ages.

An extraordinary example of unique data visualization technique in this collection of abstract, paper origami pieces that represent the world internet usage statistics. The length of each flap on these data sculptures exactly corresponds to a numerical statistic - the above example shows screen resolution usage data.

Great article here on Gizmodo picking up on points similar to those raised in my own post, Braun vs. Apple, in this blog a while back, regarding the similarities between the work of Jonathan Ive for Apple and Dieter Rams for Braun.
The article features shots of some classic Braun product, with even more comparisons to key Apple products noted, which adds further reinforcement (if any were needed) to the notion that Rams is a major influence in Ive’s work.

Mark Richards’ Core Memory Project reveals technology’s evolution through a visual survey of vintage computers from the computer collection at the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley.

If, like me, you love Wordpress but are frustrated with being limited to OS default fonts and, furthermore, despise the way Windows hammers your carefully ’set’ type into it’s pixel grid, then this 100% Flash WordPress Theme from Motion & Color could be of interest to you.
Using Wrapper they have managed to achieve the rendering of standards compliant XHTML from a standard WordPress CMS, in Flash. It’s like siFR gone mad..!
Now some of my developer buddies are a bit sniffy about Wrapper — a cross-browser compliant HTML/CSS rendering engine written in ActionScript that sits on top of your standards compliant HTML page — basically because of the way it uses proprietary methods (Flash/Javascript) to display content. When you couple this with the processor intensive nature of Flash and the memory suck associated with displaying flash in Firefox (something that deserves a post in its own right..!) then I suppose you could say they have a point. But for applications where you wish to ensure precise rendering of your content across browsers and platforms whilst having the full gamut of fonts at your disposal, without sacrificing standards compliancy and accessibility, then Wrapper could be the answer.
Anyhow, I am gonna download the theme and have a play - who’s for a bit of Wordy Wrappinghood…?! (with apologies to Tom Tom Club)

These Wood Rings are entirely handcrafted, in silver .925 and a highly durable and resistant wood called Satine Wood.
Wood being the soul of its products, it was only natural for Wood-Rings.com to incorporate environmental preservation into its practices and products.
