The Staple Inn Actuarial Society was founded in 1910 as the Institute of Actuaries Students' Society. Its original objectives were to assist students in preparation for actuarial exams and to provide a forum to practice public speaking. The Society has evolved to become a body arranging a wide variety of activities both professional and social.
The logo is made up of three curves representing three "graphs". The green one is a typical curve of mortality rates. The dark blue curve illustrates growth at compound interest. And the light blue represents the trajectory of a tankard of ale from beer-mat to mouth!
Also shown are some alternative concepts prepared for the client.
