Help medication

Help is a simple line of over-the-counter medical products designed to solve simple health issues. By stripping away some of the complexity and fear mongering of the health industry, Help Remedies hopes to make a frightening category less frightening in packaging specifically designed to be calming. The first two products are high dose headache tablets, “Help, I have a headache” and advanced bandages, “Help, I’ve cut myself.

Help I have a headache contains 12 high dose (500mg) acetaminophen tablets. Acetaminophen is used because it doesn’t irritate the stomach lining the way that aspirin, naproxen sodium, or even ibuprofen can. The pills themselves are an FDA approved formulation chosen to be as close to pure acetaminophen as possible. They don’t include the coatings, dyes, or many of the fillers that other companies often use.

Help I’ve cut myself contains 8 next generation bandages made of a material called hydrocolloid-the same material they use in hospitals to help wounds heal faster and reduce scarring. Best for minor cuts, bites and blisters, the simple clear tape design has no gauze pad and can stay on for several days allowing less irritation to the wound often caused by changing.

The outer packaging is made of molded paper pulp. It is a new green material that is made from 100% recycled paper and is compostable after use. Only a few factories, globally, currently make this material to a high grade and it has almost never been used for consumer packaging. Help Remedies hope to inspire other companies to consider this as a potential green packaging material.

At $6 for 12 headache pills, I think they need all the marketing help they can get ;) I’ll stick to my Boots Value 37p for 16 tablets!

Let’s hope they don’t have to reach for the “Help – I’m insolvent, please can you lend me some loose change for bus fare” range of biodegradably wrapped 10 pence pieces..!

Seriously though, I do find the sentiment behind the packaging design appealing in a world full of garishly packaged products screaming for attention.
