{"id":569,"date":"2008-09-29T11:09:53","date_gmt":"2008-09-29T10:09:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iainclaridge.co.uk\/blog\/?p=569"},"modified":"2008-09-29T11:26:41","modified_gmt":"2008-09-29T10:26:41","slug":"saatchi-gallery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iainclaridge.co.uk\/blog\/569","title":{"rendered":"Saatchi Gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"290\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Saatchi Gallery\" title=\"Saatchi Gallery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iainclaridge.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/saatchi1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The home of the new <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"AHMM - The Saatchi Gallery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ahmm.co.uk\/projects\/doing\/doing_saatchi_gallery.php\">Saatchi Gallery<\/a> would appear to be a great improvement over it&#8217;s previous location, where I felt the architecture of the site intruded too much into the artworks on show.<\/p>\n<p>The gallery&#8217;s new location is The Duke of York\u2019s Headquarters off the King\u2019s Road where the former Drill Hall has been stripped back to its shell to provide fifteen interconnected galleries on three levels.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"290\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Saatchi Gallery\" title=\"Saatchi Gallery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iainclaridge.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/saatchi2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Architects, <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"AHMM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ahmm.co.uk\">Allford Hall Monaghan Morris<\/a>, have invested much time and effort in the detailing to ensure that the art can be viewed with the architecture, both old and new, receding into the background.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"290\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Saatchi Gallery\" title=\"Saatchi Gallery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iainclaridge.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/saatchi3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"290\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Saatchi Gallery\" title=\"Saatchi Gallery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iainclaridge.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/saatchi4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new gallery opens to the public on October 9th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The home of the new Saatchi Gallery would appear to be a great improvement over it&#8217;s previous location, where I felt the architecture of the site intruded too much into the artworks on show.
