I have always been a fan of Arnaud Mercier’s work and his pixel perfect attention to detail so I was pretty chuffed to learn that his agency, Area 17, have just relaunched their website and it does not disappoint. Great work wrapped up in a tightly designed interface, just as you would expect.

    Hi Iain,

    That is one very beautiful and easy to use site.

    I love the way it is set out, the examples are well presented and clear, news stories are impressive too.

    The only things it’s missing, in my humble opinion are:

    – any way to find out about the real company behind all that impressive branding. They have pictures of their people descriptions, but offer no way to interact with them or find more – no blogs, no social netowrking links etc. For an interactive agency, I find this surprising and a bit cold. Different from the http://www.barbariangroup.com approach you blogged about a while ago.
    – any educational content to prove their expertise and show their passion for what they do and help their potential customers.

    Good point Sonja!

    I was too blinded by the sheer beauty of it from an aesthetic and site architecture point that I failed to notice this one screaming omission.

    I do think, however, that the execution and immaculate attention to detail in the presentation of both their own site and the work displayed within it, leaves you in no doubt as to their capabilities as an agency to deliver and hence reinforces value and trust.
