The Revive Smartphone concept, created by Bristol based designers Kinneir Dufort, has been developed with re-manufacturing, re-use and recycling in mind.

The phone is designed for easy dis-assembly allowing it to be recycled easily or upgraded through replacing different components. Coupled with simple software upgrades and a membership system that rewards users for keeping their phones longer, users can continue to repair their phone rather than throw it out and buy a new one.

The user interface, by Duncan Shotton, with it’s cute ‘n’ colourful animated characters, is also designed to encourage a long lifespan, by creating a relationship with the user, further reinforced by the phone’s brown leather backside, which wears gracefully with age, it’s patina helping to develop a sentimental attachment with the device.
