I wonder how many people, like me, initially read the copy in this recent iPod Touch ad as “The funniest iPod ever”.
It seems the mind can’t help but shift over the ‘i’ in iPod to make sense of the word ‘funnest’ and turn it into a more familier word.
I mean… is ‘funnest’ even a word..?!
I am reminded of this quote taken from David Carson’s site:
“Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm.
Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh?”

I, too, read it as “funniest”. You’re not alone.

Three dudes who spend far more time than is healthy staring at computer screens…
Our eyes are screwed guys… must remember to take those screen breaks..!
Interesting…. if you enter “the funniest ipod ever” in Google you can see how many people must have similarly misread Apples press release announcing the new iPod
