Further to my previous post on the work of minimalist metalworker, Miya Ando, she’s been in touch to tell me that her work will soon be showing in Paris at Galerie Vanessa Quang as part of The Cutting Light exhibition.
Miya, creates quiet, meditative environments from steel and pigment. Drawing on her ancestry of samurai-era Bizen sword makers-turned-Buddhist priests, she uses traditional metalworking techniques to combine tranquility and strength to form landscape-like works of art. Also showing will be examples of her forays into sculpture, phosphorescent installation and video.
The Cutting Light is at Galerie Vanessa Quang, Paris from June 4th to July 23rd, 2011.
